Turning Wi-Fi into a Phone Network
February 9th, 2003

Given the difficulty of creating a Wi-Fi network with the same coverage of the existing cellular network, it may be some time before consumers can take advantage of voice-over IP(voIP) technology with wireless devices. But offices, schools, and warehouses that have already deployed Wi-Fi networks can use Telesym’s SymPhone system to transform that network into a intercom and wireless phone network, at a fraction of the cost of cellular calling. SymPhone enables telephone systems to route incoming calls to wireless devices, so users can receive all of their calls at a single number.
