Buckley on big social networks
May 18th, 2004

Russell Buckley considers upper bounds of social network software. Like p.m.’s bolo’bolo, he places a maximum range in the 150-500 persons. Like Clay Shirky, he sees the value in small social groups.

I’d guess that the number is somewhere between 150 (the “natural” number
that most people have unsupported by networking tools) and 500. I think that it’s possible to increase the number as this software is designed to make you more efficient in your networking. In the same way that Word made us all perfect typists or Excel masters of complex maths or financial problems.
