Busan is a city of 4 million residents,and is located on the south eastern tip of the Korean peninsula.The opening ceremony of ITU (International Telecommunication Union)Telecom Asia 2004,Asia’s largest IT technology contest,was held in Busan on Monday.Digital Chosun reports that “businesses put their latest ubiquitous(anytime, anywhere access to information) technology on display to catch viewers’ attention. KT and KTF put on a show with “Total Ubiquitous Technology,” including 33 online and offline services.Especially, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) exhibited in “U-Street” caught the eyes of the audience.At SK Telecom’s “Ubiquitous Town,” audiences are able to experience various wireless services such as satellite DMB, digital homes, and mobile banking.At the “Ubiquitous Fanclub,” realtime VOD (Video on Demand), MP3 music broadcasting, and photograph printing were demonstrated through cellular phones.”224 international companies from 27 nations participated in the event.
