I own a BlackBerry and most of the people in my office and the offices around me (I live and work in Washington, DC) carry BlackBerry handheld devices. I don’t know if the Washington Post is slow to the punch or if they just spent their time to write a fun article, but either way, Yuki Noguchi shares with us the obsession and addiction Washingtonians have to their always-on email in No Escape From E-Mail: Wireless BlackBerrys Push Limit of Etiquette. I like to think of Washington as a city rife with High School student body presidents. And it is true. The final paragraph does a beautiful job of encapsulating my entire Washington experience, “It’s the perfect productivity tool for anxious professionals,” Wilhelm said. Then he wondered out loud: “Does the BlackBerry make someone more neurotic, or does a neurotic person find that the BlackBerry comforts them?”
