A new breed of companies is learning how to respect the commons while leveraging its social vitality in sustainable ways. A prime example is IBM’s announcement this week that it would release 500 of its patents for open-source development. This is part of a much larger trend. As Glenn Otis Brown at the Creative Commons blog noted recently, more companies are starting to exploit ‚Äö√Ñ√∫piracy‚Äö√Ñ√π as a business strategy.
