Mobile Social Club
March 7th, 2005

Brian Gavioli writes: There’s an interesting and relevant article at the Times Online, titled “Welcome to the Mobile Social Club”.

The article discusses how the social aspects of online gaming will start a revolution on mobile game devices like the Sony PSP, Nintendo DS, Tapwave Zodiac and Gizmondo.

In addition to F2F meetups for multiplayer gaming, the article also discusses how the social aspects of wirelessly connected handhelds will appeal to an audience beyond just gamers and geeks. The use of a Nintendo DS with an ink-based whiteboard chatting program called PictoChat being used in classrooms and by parents when tutoring their children was given as an example of non-gaming use.

(..) “The real revolution is not purely about playing games on the move, or even social gaming. It is about communication and the freedom to play what you want, when you want, where you want and with whom you want. It is about ‚Äö√Ñ√∫entertainment anywhere‚Äö√Ñ√π, and as a shared experience”.

Thank you Brian !
