Mobile Phone Helps Find Wandering Elderly with Alzheimer
May 9th, 2005

SK Telecom announced Monday it will join forces with the Korean National Police Agency to provide a mobile service which will help the elderly who suffer from senile dementia, reports Telecoms Korea.

The process is same as for finding missing children; when the police sends out information on the missing elderly including photos, appearances and the place where they disappeared to handsets, mobile users who found them report to the police.

From January to March this year,437 senior citizens were reported to the police as missing. As they tend to keep wandering and attract less attention than missing children, prompt reports from people in the neighborhood are very important, the mobile carrier explained.”
