Googlebombing as social protest

The current First Monday has a new article on Googlebombing. The author, Clifford Tatum, finds the practice to be a somewhat effective form of social protest and online collective action. The article includes a good sketch of what went into a sample Googlebomb.

Tatum also notes assigning some of his media studies students to conduct a Googlebomb this summer.
