The eFinland weblog says “a preliminary draft Government proposal was handed today to Finnish Parliament on amending the Act on the Protection of Privacy in Electronic Communications.The purpose of the provision would be to enable the use of SMS or other services in traditional mobile networks for the transmission of messages from the authorities, including emergency announcements. At the moment, electronic emergency messaging, and transmission of other messages from the authorities, is carried out only in public broadcasting networks such as on radio and television”.
