This article says that “Korea plans to introduce ways other than a resident registration number to sign onto internet services from 2007 in an effort to better protect online privacy, the Ministry of Information and Communication said yesterday.The new measure will involve allowing the use of digital certificates or new identities authorized by a government agency,such as National Information & Credit Evaluation Inc. and Seoul Credit Rating & Information Co., the ministry explained.The ministry currently has five alternatives under consideration”.Further,”According to a ministry survey,79 percent of 3,805 Korean websites required a resident registration number for allowing a person to become a registered user”.
