The Guardian looks at a new satellite broadband offering called the BGAN service,which is being offered by satellite communications firm Inmarsat,and could help bring the internet to some of the world’s most remote areas. “The system offers speeds of up to 492Kbps,roughly equivalent to the slowest broadband internet speeds available in the home,but will cover 85 per cent of the world’s land mass”.
