CNNMoney.com reports “the number of people who spent $2 or less online doubled in the last year,a new survey finds.More and more Americans are turning to the Internet to cash in their small change,according to a new survey.The number of people willing to make payments of $2 or less over the Internet nearly doubled to about 20 million last year,according to a survey from Peppercoin,which makes software that enables small payments online,and market research firm Ipsos Insight.”

Peppercoin have been trying to push micropayments for years. But I think Paypal will really corner this market (they’ve already lowered their fees for transactions of less than $2). The current upswing is probably due to the iTunes effect.

How much of this is itunes type purchases? Or napster. MP3’s and the video ipod stuff is just under 2 bucks.
