Use of Electronic Product Codes and RFID with drugs

In an announcement for pharmacists the Pfizer company writes that ‘the use of RFID in the pharmaceutical industry is relatively new and complicated by the highly regulated nature of the business and the small size of the pharmaceutical packaging’.

Concerning the application of rfid tags in a ‘Viagra project’ they state”Electronic pedigrees may improve patient safety and protect the public health by allowing wholesalers and retailers to rapidly identify, quarantine and report suspected counterfeit drugs.
