News reports that “wireless technology will be used to transmit critical patient information from trackside at this weekend’s Australian F1 Grand Prix to one of Melbourne’s biggest hospitals.The technology will cut at least 20 minutes off the time it takes to assess the patient and set up the necessary equipment when they arrived at the hospital from Albert Park.Using a WiMAX link,X-rays and other images from a portal theatre used to treat drivers,officials and pit crew at the Grand Prix would be sent instantly via the “Picture Archive and Communications System” to The Alfred hospital”.
