Beginning in 1999 with an idea at MIT the OCW movement has piloted and proven the opening online of materials made for and used in university instruction. Over the past six years, materials have been opened online from more and more academic institutions. In a major new step forward for this movement a portal announced this month lets users and educators:
Search for content across all of the existing OCW projects for the courses they are interested in, including five language translation partners,
Discover how they can share their own content openly in an OCW-like publishing environment,
Find how they can support the OpenCourseWare Movement
Now in beta, the project welcomes feedback.
