ZDNet reports “Australians are swapping their landlines for mobile phones,to the benefit of telecommunications companies.An Australian Competition and Consumer Commission report shows a huge surge in the amount of time people are using mobile phones.It found there were 15.2 million mobile phone services — effectively the number of phones — in operation in 2004-05, an increase of almost one million over the previous year.Australians used those mobile phones for a mind-boggling 16.2 billion minutes through the year.That was an increase of more than 12 percent on the 14.6 billion minutes rung up in 2003-04”.
