The introvert’s RSS, or privacy for your feed
August 7th, 2006

bloglines_logo.gifBloglines, a browser-based and free RSS reader, announced that it was working on an RSS extension to limit readership to a closed group.

However, this whitelist-RSS only applies to some services and companies:

But this method only solves the issue at Bloglines and Ask.com, and it doesn’t address user-created (as opposed to publisher-created) feeds, like flickr feeds, which can’t be claimed. Clearly, there is a need for an industry-wide solution.

It’s not an extension to limit readearship to a closer group, but an extension where RSS feed can’t be discovered by search engines (if search engines implement it).
