It’s been planned for a while - Search Engines feeding Paid Advertising to Mobile Customers using Search Engines paired down for mobile phones. Google got into this space over the last month or two and now Yahoo has followed suit.
With Google just recently announcing that it would be selling advertising spots on its mobile platform from the AdWords program (www.google.com/xhtml), competitor Yahoo! has announced that it too will now be selling advertising on its mobile portal (wap.yahoo.com) for cellphones and other mobile devices.
This comes after a few years of mobile advertising experience in markets like Japan, where Yahoo! has had mobile ads for quite some time. Japan’s wireless market is quite a bit more advanced as the culture there accesses the Internet mostly over high-speed wireless phones instead of PCs.
