This DMeurope article says “Golden Telecom (GT) is deploying 6,000 wi-fi hotspots in Moscow, reports Kommersant. According to Kommersant, GT’s network will have a capacity for up to 400,000 users by 2010. GT claims that the network will be able to transmit data at speeds of around 2Mbps. The Russian telco has invested $10m so far in expanding its wi-fi presence in the Russian capital. Trials of the network will begin on 15 November, and the launch is scheduled for 15 January 2007″.
