The Second Life CEO
November 11th, 2006

The move to create corporations in Second Life is speading up; last week I listened to Joseph Jaffe talk about his new agency Crayon, created in Second Life and operating in Second Life exclusively.

Now IBM is getting into the act with IBM’s Chief Executive, Samuel S. Palmisano who is about to make his mark as the first big-league CEO to appear in a virtual-world setting. In fact, IBM will spend 100 million dollars to create products and services in Second Life and for Second Life.

Big Blue is setting up a new organization to pursue the huge opportunity not only of providing the software, computers and chips that power 3-D worlds; but also in advising clients on how to take advantage of them to market or sell products

.

IBM CEO Samuel Palmisano’s avatar will become the first Fortune 10 CEO to appear in SL when he takes the stage in a virtual version of China’s Forbidden City on Nov. 14 tto address IBMers.”

As we’ve seen here on this blog, Howard Rheingold also has an avatar and has appeared in Second Life.
