“St. Louis Park, Minn., is the first city in the United States to approve solar-powered wireless Internet service on a citywide basis, according to a release from the city,”govtech.net reports.”In keeping with its philosophy of environmental consciousness mixed with an innovative spirit, the St. Louis Park City Council on Nov. 6 voted to move forward with a full, citywide deployment of the “ParkWi-Fi” wireless Internet project, using solar panels to power wireless radios. Following a phased-in installation across the city, the entire network is slated to be online by July 2007″.
