I just noticed that Google has been hosting the Gapminder tool since Spring 2006 with an AJAX interface. You can choose the variables for each axis, linear or logarithmic scale, and the color coding. How long before I can search Google for data like “average household size China” and get numbers from the UN-Habitat database?

As I understand it, the folks at the UN have been bewildered by the proposal that their data could be sucked into semantic space for the public. But they changed their description from impossible to extremely difficult or something like that according to Hans Rosling.
