Interactive Telecommunications Program show on December 17 and 18 @ NYU
December 16th, 2006

I’m going to be covering the the ITP program at NYU on Sunday for SmartMobs and Artnewyorkcity and I noticed it already got a big plug from Boing Boing today (which means the ITP show is going to be MOBBED (maybe Smart-Mobbed too)!

Here’s what Boing Boing’s Xeni Jardin posted:

Sonic art weapon: Ravezooka

Snip from wemakemoneynotart:
“The Ravezooka is a musical weapon that shoots powerful “hardcore” sounds based on your target’s distance from the instrument. Squeezing the trigger handle initiates sound and a beam of light. As the user moves the Ravezooka around, the frequency range being played changes based on the distance of the person or object in front of the instrument. The closer the target, the lower the frequency range.”

I’ve been covering the Art Scene in New York as a connection with my Web Analyst work at IBM - and I see a convergence of Art and Technology become a movement, of itself - an example of being the work coming out of the ITN Program at NYU (which costs a pretty penny to attend - something like 100,000 USD for the two year program).
