A California company called Outland Research has filed a patent for a “smart” shoe sole that can adjust to different activities, such as walking, running or playing sports, reports FutureWire.
“The sole operates by filling bladders with an electrically-activated liquid within milliseconds when extra cushioning or support is needed. The liquid can also firm up when necessary.
Such a shoe could be controlled manually or even through a wireless device. Or, the shoe could be self-adjusting, sensing different movements and wear conditions.”
