Eating disorders
January 14th, 2007

This DMeurope post says “the Spanish city of Madrid has decided to fight the promotion of eating disorders on the web by shutting down a site called The Great Ana Competition. The Great Ana Competition awards a diploma to the girl who consumes the least calories in a two-week period. Health officials filed a suit against the website, saying that its scoring system ‘would cause malnutrition in normal women.’ A judge will decide whether the owners of the site should be held responsible for the content. The shutting down of the site comes four months after Madrid banned models that are deemed too skinny from walking on its runways”.
