10.5 per cent of the total population of China

This news report says “China, the world’s second largest internet audience, saw its internet population soar 23.4 per cent last year to 137 million, a think-tank said today.The statistics showed that more than one Chinese in 10 had become an internet user, the government-controlled China Internet Network Information Centre said on its website.”The online population now makes up 10.5 per cent of the total population,” the centre said. “In Beijing, it now exceeds 30 per cent of the total population for the first time ever.”

Think about the market that has yet to use the internet. Only 10.5% of Chinese are Internet users and already it’s more than 100 million. If just 30% of Chinese decided to use the internet there would be more Chinese internet users than Americans (that’s total population of Americans, not just those that use the net).

Best to figure out how to enter that market.
