The computer age is in at least its second decade and the Internet era is over ten years old for sure. Certainly the little girl in the picture above does not remember a time before the Internet was important in many sectors of business and society. Her picture is grabbed from an ExxonMobile commercial about the importance of teaching math and science to the little girl’s generation. The commercial is running this weekend on the television coverage of golf’s Masters Tournament.
As the commercial begins the little girl is seen coming to the window and sticking her two hands through it into the open air. In her hands are chalkboard erasers. She claps the erasers together, chalk dust flies–and then the dust spins into beautiful scenes of new and exciting science.
The part of the scene in which the child takes part could have been filmed a century ago. Chalk dust will turn to science for these kids??? Shouldn’t the school be 21st century too?
