Outsourcing Your Life with DoMyStuff
April 18th, 2007

From Beverly Hills, CA Darren Berkovitz pointed Smartmobs to DoMyStuff, a new website that allows someone to “Outsource Their Life”, meaning physical tasks like grocery shopping, going to the cleaners, or painting a fence.

Assistants bid how much they are willing to do the task for, and then the buyer awards the task. The site uses feedback and escrow to ensure safe transactions. Basically, it allows people to have personal assistants whenever they need them.

Wow. Sounds interesting. I’ve considered outsourcing and even read some articles about it at http://www.fourhourworkweek.com. The book’s coming out so I hope to read more about the concept. If nothing else, I’m looking for ways to get out of the rat-race I find myself in sometimes.

Good idea. Maybe I’ll try outsourcing picking up my laundry, I can never find parking at that place.

Very interesting post. I myself consider outsourcing as one way to improve my business. According to Wikipedia, outsourcing is the delegation of non-core operations from internal production to an external entity specializing in the management of that operation. The decision to outsource is often made in the interest of lowering firm costs, redirecting or conserving energy directed at the competencies of a particular business, or to make more efficient use of worldwide labor, capital, technology and resources.

I agree with Harold, and visited http://www.fourhourworkweek.com. There you can read Tim’s blog and about his week which is very much relevant to outsourcing.

More power Gerrit! Keep up the good post.:-)

Another site people can turn to for outsourcing is workpost.com. There you can post work you need done and contractors/service providers contact use. It’s a similar concept to domystuff, but less complicated and more encompassing. I suggest checking it out at http://www.workpost.com.
