Padmasree Warrior is the CTO of Motorola, managing thousands of engineers, and is one of the most powerful women in business. She also writes an excellent blog, Bits at the Edge.
In one recent entry, she wrote that the next decade is about the Mobile Revolution. She discusses the value of human connection in the ‘mobile revolution’ and how Motorola — and other companies — need to provide users with a rich experience that can be delivered whenever, wherever, and in whatever format they desire.
Here are some short excerpts about what she calls ‘Platform Disturbia.’ “The industry approach to mobile software and applications is causing ‘Platform Disturbia.’ Let me paint the picture. First, there is fragmentation. [...] The second issue is feature overload. [...] The third challenge is to avoid monolithic programming.”
And here is another quote: “The future is about open communities, sharing and collaboration. Whoever thought we would be posting ridiculous videos and photos of ourselves online for the world to see? Whoever thought we would see collaborative efforts like Wikipedia? Whether it is a belief in the power of collective intelligence, or simply the cool thing to do right now, I don’t think this facet of the user experience is going away - ever. People want to share with like-minded people, and socialize in the easiest way possible.”
Please read her whole post to discover how we can move from ‘Platform Disturbia’ to ‘Platform Utopia.’
