A new dieting new service using cell phone cameras help Japanese lose weight according to CNN.

This is how it works: Dieters send photos of meals to nutritionists for analysis; the dieting service was launched by public health insurance offices. Japanese officials hope cell phone cameras will help improve diets of overweight Japanese.

“Cell phones are everywhere here,” according to Osaka official Satomi Onishi : “We’re hoping they can now make it easier for people to get help improving their diet.”

But, there’s a delay in getting advice back from the nutritionists - which can be a problem when your actually out eating - and deciding what you can have and what you can’t. According to Gizmondo:

The only problem is that one of the services has a three-day turnaround time, meaning you’ll have to wonder for days if that Country Boy Breakfast from Cracker Barrel was bad for you after all.

Would it help to have the nutritionists company to have a or build a data base to cut down on the turn around time. Another way, would be to entice early adopters when they send in their meals to send in a second, for a discount. Maybe taking a picture of someone’s meal at the table next to theirs, or even a meal that they see and think they might like to have.
