Nogozi Okonjo-Iweala told a Ted audience in a talk placed online this week that in Africa the people have looked to the future and decided ‘no one can do it but us.’ This very articulate African describes the continent as emerging from corruption and conflict–and as a market with huge potential now open for investment. She gives examples in her talk, and says there is a new wave on the continent of openness and democracy. One of the examples suggests an impending stunning smart mobbing emergence: in Nigeria there were 4500 landlines in 2003 and are now 32 million gms mobiles in service and, as she puts it, ‘counting.’
