The New York Times had a story a couple of days ago about a very rare public converstation between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. The event was on-stage at a conference called D: All Things Digital at which The Wall Street Journal hosted 600 technology executives. The tone the Times took made the transitioning of Jobs and Gates into seniorship clear. That they may not be–in my opinion–leading the next digital wave is hinted in these lines from the story:
Neither was willing to acknowledge the possibility that the personal computer era they helped create would end any time soon.“The PC has proven to be very resilient,” Mr. Jobs said.
At the same time they called themselves believers in the explosion of hand-held communications devices, also known as “Post PC devices.”
