What will microblogging do to politics?

Blogs are an essential part of internet communication. More and more politicians in the West have their own blog. But has any politician already opened a microblogging (Twitter, Jaiku) account?

This blogger Zzzhhu continues to say: “I haven’t seen any. But I think it is bound to happen. It is where the trend is going. But what will it do to political communication?”

When they do “this can be either very dull: “just woke up, brushing my teeth before driving to parliament..” or more interesting: “In the middle of a meeting with union representatives, they really are so stupid...” What will microblogging do to politics?

Huh? John Edwards, Barack Obama and Fred Thompson all have twitter accounts. They’re usually written by staffers, but not always.
