August 30th, 2007

The Rocky Mountain News reported this week that “nearly 4,000 students signed up for the University of Colorado’s emergency-alert text messaging system” after an on campus stabbing this week. The day of the incident, at 10:20 AM the University alerted the 1,300 students who had already signed up for the service; the stabbing took place less than an hour earlier at 9:43. A news release from the University of Colorado describes the event in detail. Links in the release give more details on how the alerts work: overall and sign-up.
