Doctorow warns of threat from Google, government databases

The ever-growing warehouses of information being built by European Union mandate and by private companies such as Google Inc. are a major threat to freedom and privacy, author and activist Cory Doctorow said in this AP interview.

I’m very worried that we’re building giant databases that don’t catch terrorists, but that can be used to harass activists or people that are saying politically unpalatable things,» he told The Associated Press at the «Picnic» technology and media conference in Amsterdam on Thursday.
