Present with the creators
December 11th, 2007

Yesterday and today I am attending the webVideo Summit in New York City. The subtitle of the conference is: creating & distributing video over the net. It is one of those marvelous gatherings that typically take place at the time when a new phenomenon is tipping toward a major cascade into the main stream. Meetings like that are very special because the creators of the tipping trend tend to be present as speakers and willing to talk with individuals who attend.

Is video about to cascade across the net? To some extent it already has, of course. But there seems to be much, much more roaring into the net. From what I have been hearing from the conference folk, I have been impressed by two major smart mobby trends.

First, the reference by many of the creators of the web video venue to “letting the world” do things. For example, Daphne Kwon, Founder of ExpoTV, showed us how “the world” participates in the video reviews comprise their business.

Second, this crowd eagerly teaches the world its ropes. A good place to begin if you want to be a net video creator yourself: motionbox gives you a set of free (after you register) tools that are cool and easy.
