People affected by emotional problems are often reluctant when they’re told to see a psychologist. Now, they can confidentially consult online MindMentor, the first robot psychologist. It will cost them €4.95 for one hour session (or about US$7.65 as of today). MindMentor has been developed by two Dutch psychologists specialized in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). I tried it out. Nothing more than a number of “if-then-else” tricks parrottedly suited to my answers. It’s a mechanical applications of PNL techniques, which in my opinion aren’t that effective even between humans.

Hmm, this has been tried before and over time it may be better than nothing, but there is no substitute for training, experience and empathy. My wife Dr. Allison Conner runs a referral network of New York Psychologists. Those therapists all use CBT which I guess some people might consider similar to NLP.
