Metachat on MySpace: smart mobbing in virtual worlds
March 28th, 2008

This Virtual Worlds News blog post explains that with Metachat now on MySpace: “The simple application lets users chat, watch movies together, kick soccer balls, and throw snowballs, but it’s also a sign of bigger things to come. . . .” It seems like Howard Rheingold’s original observation (in his Smart Mobs book) of young people interacting near Shibuya station, is an epiphany now striking observers of virtual worlds. I am going to learn more next week by attending Virtual Worlds 2008 in New York City. I don’t know if there will be epiphanies, but there should be at the least some new glimpses of the smart mobby future.
