Upoc the Vote

Via Marketwire, thanks to Sam Gronner for the tip!

If the way to a man’s heart is through his belly, then the way to young voters’ hearts is through their mobile devices. At least, that may be the case according to Rock the Vote, a non-profit non-partisan organization dedicated to mobilizing young voters. So for this year’s elections, Rock the Vote has teamed up with Upoc Networks, provider of mobile social networking applications, and none other than the nation’s largest mobile carrier, AT&T, to leverage mobile technology for purposes of engaging young voters. This partnership has deployed instant polls to gauge public opinion, quizzes that entertain while they inform, targeted alerts about upcoming events based on location, and event-driven concert promotions by sponsors, along with a campaign to Text to Turnout, whereby youth send ‘text chains’ reminding their friends to vote. And in fact, studies have shown that this approach can increase the likelihood of voting. Rock on.
