Hi Howard

I read the transcript of your address. I agree with what you’re saying. Going further though, I think this is a very sad and frightening perspective on the evolution of the internet. As far as the net was supposed to facilitate citizen enlightenment and empowerment, this event, in the most wired up nation in the World, looks like the Middle Ages rebooted.
- Rumors and half truths spreading over the internet drove a quasi lynch mob to take to the streets
- Mainstream Media bungled it from the start, with a documentary which largely fueled the irrational fears of Koreans… only to realize afterwards that said documentary had its facts wrong.
- It appears Government representatives are still not able or equipped to address concerns and demands from the public stemming from the web before it boils over onto the streets.

If this is the future of our connected societies, I’m losing faith in the internet as an instrument of progress.
