Roland’s Sunday Smart Trends #250
February 8th, 2009

Roland Piquepaille legacy is continuing strong today with Roland’s Sunday Smart Trends #250.  It is incredible to think that Roland Piquepaille had dedicated over 246 + “Sundays” in service to the Smart Mobs community. Incredible! (”Incredbile” should be spoken in an outrageous French accent!)

Roland, as a small token of appreciation for the insight and wisdom your so openly shared with us we are honoring you by picking up where you have left off.

Reviewing Past Trends

Recently, I was reviewing some TED talks of the past few years to see which “predictions” or “trends” have emerged or have come to fruition. The TED Talk I was watching today is by far one of the most inspiring (and depressing) TED talks I have come across.* Technologist and futurist Bill Joy shares many provocative thoughts to say the least, highlighting what he believes are “several big worries for humanity — and several big hopes in the fields of health, education and future tech”. This video is definitely worth your time (or if you have seen this already, worth a review) as Bill Joy highlights many emerging and current trends affecting us on many levels.

Bill Joy on TED.com: What I worry about, what I’m excited about

* [This talk is inspiring in that it highlights many positive trends shaping our societies, it is depressing in that some of Bill Joy's worries are very valid and true.]
