Tomi Ahonen sent me some mobile stats from his new publication: Tomi Ahonen Almanac 2009. Here is a sampling of those that I found most interesting:

- Of the 3.4 billion mobile phones in use, “one in eight subscribers walks around with 2 phones in their pockets.”

- When you eliminate duplicates from subscribers, there are 3.1 billion unique mobile phone subscribers.

- 45% of the planet is doing SMS.

Our time of the trillions: Showing as much as anything does that mobile is a major player in our time, this basic mobile tool of smart mobbing had 2008 revenues of 1,000 billion dollars = $1 trillion.
