The Games for Change Festival brought together crowd of incredibly imaginative people for the past three days at Parsons, The New School for Design in New York City. The above picture and following description are a capsule from the event captured by Tim Harig, with whom I watched several segments:
A game design contest at the May 2009 Games for Change Festival in New York found three volunteers wearing T-shirts marked with humiliating statements contributed by the audience. Game design academic, Henry Jenkins looks on. The contest, patterned after the ‘Iron Chef’ TV show, challenged game designers to design a game about torture. The topic as well as the ’secret ingredient’ (T-shirts) were revealed only at the start of the contest. Three teams of experienced game designers participated to demonstrate the concepts of game development.
