Infotention Part Two: Building Information Dashboards
November 2nd, 2009

In Infotention Part One, I introduced dashboards, radars, and filters as means for balancing need-to-know with protection against information overload. In this video, the second in the series, I show how to build an information dashboard using an RSS reader. In this case, I concentrate on Netvibes.

What about providing a transcript to protect against information overload ?

Watching a video is the LEAST efficient way to digest information ?

Your summary sounds interesting, but I don’t have time to watch a video - give me a choice between video and text ?

Great job, Howard! I especially liked, “”Like a telescope or microscope for extending your attention out into the “info-verse,” [these tools] enable you to see and know things that your unaided attention might have missed.”

This is very helpful to me in my work as I try to help students approach their college search process as engaged learners.

I am currently leaning towards Pageflakes, as the (mandatory?) Google search box takes up less “real estate” at the top of the page.
