In a generous gesture, Chatbar announces a free SMS service to help contact families and friends affected by Asian earthquake.

Free SMS messages can be via ChatBar to or from the following countries:

Bangladesh
India
Indonesia
Malaysia
Maldives
Sri Lanka
Thailand

SMS messages sent to mobile phones of foreign nationals “roaming” in those countries will also be provided free by ChatBar, although separate charges may be applied by some carriers.

Relevant parties should utilize the following links:

for English

for Simplified Chinese

for Traditional Chinese

for Tagalog

Paul Roberts, Director, ForgetMeNot Software, stated ‚Äö√Ñ√∫We are all shocked and stunned by the devastation wrought by the earthquake. In an effort to help, we wanted to make the functionality of ChatBar available free to everyone who needs to communicate with loved ones at this difficult time. Experience has shown that SMS messages may get through to mobile phones even though voice networks may be overloaded.‚Äö√Ñ√π Those people without a mobile phone but access to an internet connected PC can still send and receive SMS messages through the service.”

Hi,

My names Jess and i am 13 years old from Meadows community school.

Our school and everyone in the town is devistated about what happened with the Tsunami.

We cant belive that everything was ok then all of a sudden disaster striked.

We are very touched by this and are doing alot to help. We are selling our own items to raise money, even things that mean alot to us, to help those who need it most.

We are selling biscuits that we have bought with our own sweet money and selling them for a profit to help the unfortunate ones.

I just wanted to say, remember, we a doing all we can to help, and we will never forget that day and those images we saw on the news. Horrific.

I just hope that those 40,000 people are found, alive. And that things like this wont ever happen again, although the earth has its own mind, Its unpredictable and no one can change what the future holds for us.
