C. Wess Daniels, Quaker and PhD Student in missiology explains on his website Gathering what problems he has with online Christian Communities.

There is another growing trend on the web, and that’s Christian online communities (or ghettos). There are discussion boards, dating services, Christianized versions of facebook, a video web service called Godtube (though I can’t currently access it), and many others. While there is a place for something like a topic specific discussion board (you can do this on any online website with groups) there are a few reasons why I think Christians should avoid these type of online communities.

Being a Christian I am accustomed to people resenting our standing, speaking or gathering. Any ethnic or cultural group can do these things with approval I understand that the world would prefer we shut up and sit down.

I have several reasons why this article is secular and shouldn’t be heeded by Christians. You will find my reasons posted right after the reasons posted by the author as to why we should not be seen on those sites.

FewClues, thanx for letting us know. It may interest you to see what I twittered right after smartmobbing Wess Daniels item.
